Southern Meadow

Happy April 2016

Quick look at what’s going on in April

Dinner with Friends

There will be Dinner with Friends on April 15th. The term is used for a sort of progressive dinner. There will be a sign up sheet at the Club House and you can sign up as a host/hostess for the dinner. The hosts will make the main course and those who attend will bring the complimentary dishes – starches, vegetables, etc. This time, we will have hostess choice. If you are hosting the dinner, you will pick the main course, such as pot roast, turkey, chicken, etc. Then those who will attend your dinner will bring the other dishes. The hosting choice will be posted. Remember, it’s a secret who’s attending which house until you show up on the doorstep! As usual, desserts will be at the clubhouse where we can extol the culinary delights to everyone.

Garden Day!
On April 28th at 5 pm, there will be a covered dish dinner at the clubhouse. There will be a sign up sheet posted for those who are attending as well as a second sheet with what you will be bringing to share. There will also be a 50/50 and the donation will go to Alzheimer Research. POC is Linda Synden.

Covered Dish
There will be a St. Patrick’s Day dinner at the Club House on March 17th. We will begin at 5. There will be corned beef and cabbage for the traditional dinner. There is a sign up sheet at the Club House and depending on how many sign up, people will be asked to cook the corned beef. Wear your green. Listen to the Irish music and dance a jig. POC Flo (Gannon) Zimmerman.

Southern Meadow Memory Tree Dedication
We will be dedicating our Memory Tree on April 29th, Arbor Day at 1
pm at the pond. Everyone is welcome to take part in and support each of us in this dedication. This tree was planted in honor of all our Southern Meadow neighbors who have passed on but will always be with us in our hearts. Please come out and join us.

Exercise in the Clubhouse
***New***It’s spring and what better time than now to start getting into a healthy exercise routine. On Tuesday April 12 we will begin a new session geared for those who want to start small. These will be 25-30 minute sessions each Tuesday at around 9:30 after chair yoga. You will do the 1 mile Leslie Sansone heart-health walk indoors in the clubhouse. The goal is to learn about the Sansone Walk at Home program and then gradually work up to the 3-5 mile sessions regularly done Mon-Wed-Fri. This will be geared for those interested in beginning a fitness program and who have not been active for a while.

However, if you are adventurous, determined, and goal-oriented, please feel free to join the earlier 8:30 sessions and do what you can at your own pace. You will always find encouraging words, smiles, and pats on the back. After all, we were all beginners at one time. POC for the Tuesday 9:30 sessions is Dollie Lampa for 8:30 sessions is Jonalyn Chagaris.

Bowling
The bowling alley time is 1:00 pm on Tuesdays at Dover Bowl-arama. Come join in the fun and camaraderie with neighbors and friends.

Stitching
On Thursday afternoon, a group meets for Stitching from 1 – 4 pm at the Club House. Those involved have multiple projects going on, such as quilting, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, cross stitch, and sewing. Anyone wishing to join the group is welcome.
