At the Club House

April 16 – Covered Dish Dinner Monday April 16th 5pm. Let’s bring SPRING in with a Covered Dish made by some of the best cooks anywhere! Signup sheet is on the clubhouse bulletin board! Please sign up to attend and sign up for what you will be bringing. It will be a great night of good food and good company! Please Join us! POC Linda Synden

There will also be a 50/50 to support  Johnny’s Angels and The Walk to End Alzheimer’s

April 17 – Coffee with Friends – Celebrating Tax day Tuesday 17 at 2 PM Coffee with friends at Governor’s Cafe. Enjoy an afternoon of socializing at Governor’s Cafe on tax day. POC Sharon Cowart.

April 21 – Karaoke Night – 7:00.  Come and enjoy the fun.

April 25 – 5 – Mary Jane & Linda are teaming up Dining Out at Frederica Pizza while supporting Alzheimer’s and Johnny’s Angels. This is something the community hasn’t done in quite some time. Come out and join the community for a dine out night.

There will be a signup sheet at the Clubhouse for the dining out so reservations can be made.

The fundraiser will be an ALL-DAY Event, While the dine out will be at 5pm

I will have vouchers at the clubhouse for the fundraiser. If you forget to pick one up, there will be vouchers available at the Frederica register. Just let them know you are there for the fundraiser before paying your check. 10% of your check will go to Alzheimer’s Johnny’s Angels.


Luncheons

Ladies – 12:00 on 9 April at Olive Garden in Dover.  POC Mary Jane Sienkiewicz and Diane Pastor.

Men – We are returning to Lefty’s in Lewes, DE on 16 April. The food was good and we will go on to the Arcade state of the art technology bowling alleys.  The restaurant is good and the place is spotlessly clean.  I have more information handy for all who are interested in signing up at the clubhouse. We will meet at 1130 and leave at 1200 Dan Beck.


The Caring Committee

Recent Reads

Recent Reads will be on 4 April. We missed due to weather in March. If you stayed home and read a good book during the bad weather last month, join us for an hour and share your favorites.

Mahjong

Mahjong will meet on the 10th and 24th of April.  POC is Joan Jensen.


Dominoes/Rummikub

Dominoes and Rummikub will be on the 12th and 26th of April.  POC Myrle Scott.


Pinochle

Groups are gathering to play pinochle on Tuesday and Friday evenings at the Club House at 7.  Interested?  We have two to three tables each evening so far.  Come and join in. POC Norm Jensen.

At the Club House

Coffee with friends March edition. Get your Irish on and wear something green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Join us on Thursday, 15 March at 2:00 PM at McGlynn’s Pub on State Street to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a glass of wine and some appetizers. Please sign up no later than 12 March at the clubhouse or email sharon.cowart@comcast.net to make a reservation. Sharon will need a count in order to make a reservation for the group.
18 March: 7 – Southern Meadow St. Patrick’s day celebration with Karaoke at the Clubhouse.


March Madness

March Madness NCAA Basketball pool criteria:

1.  32 openings only

2.  $5 for 2 picks in your choice of 4 regions

3.  Drawings are random (don’t have to know anything about teams.)

4.  Draw first for order of draw

5.  Draw random for 2 teams

6.  If all 32 picks are not met, can draw again for $5 until all openings are gone

7.  There are 5 winners–Final 4 & Champion

8.  $160 take-in:  pay out $32 each

9.  Can draw for neighbor

*  Selection Sunday is March 11

*  Drawings Monday March 12 at Clubhouse 5:00

*  First games Tuesday March 13

*  Final 4 March 31

*  Championship game April 2

Shellweshuck Party

17 March from 2 – 5 at the Clubhouse.
Come and open an oyster and get a pearl. Pearls then can be made into a beautiful piece of jewelry. Games, Door prizes, Snacks and fun. There is an Irish theme. Point person Thelma


Bingo

Bingo will be held on Friday, 9th and 23rd of March at 1 PM.  POC Don Sienkiewicz


Luncheons

Ladies – 12:00 on 12 March at Cheddar’s in Camden. POC Mary Jane Sienkiewicz and Diane Pastor.

Men – We are going back to Rosenfield’s Jewish Deli in Rehoboth. The last time we had 6 men with thumbs up….the date MARCH 19th.We will meet at the club house 11:30 and leave at 12:00 so we can miss the lunch crowd. There will be a sign up sheet at clubhouse.  ALL ARE WELCOME. WE are all FRIENDS. Dan Beck.


Billiards

Anyone interested in playing pool/billiards on Mondays and Thursdays at 2:00 pm at the Club House, please come on over and join the fun.


Dominoes/Rummikub

Dominoes and Rummikub will be on the 8th and 22nd of March.  POC Myrle Scott


Frederica Senior Center

Southern Meadow Bakers are baking once a month for the Center usually on the fourth Thursday, March 22nd. POC is Myrle Scott.  If you want to join the fabulous bakers, call Myrle.

Super Bowl Chili Cook Off

The Super Bowl Chili Cook off will be held on 4 February at 5 pm at the Clubhouse. POC is Bill Chaney. There will be a sign up sheet at the clubhouse.


Ladies’ Tea

The Ladies Tea will return in February. Join our neighbors and friends at 2 PM on Friday, February 16 at the clubhouse for a cup of tea, or coffee, or wine and perhaps some baked goodies made by our wonderful Southern Meadow bakers. Sign-up sheet will be placed at the clubhouse. Sharon Cowart is the hostess. If you would like to help with set up, please email Sharon at sharon.cowart@Comcast.net. Ladies are invited to prepare their favorite baked goody or purchase a snack/appetizer to share with the ladies. Please bring your own teacup or coffee cup or wine glass!


Coffee Talk

There will be a Coffee Talk on 19 February at 1:00. The topic is “The Many Faces of Dementia.”

Men – Still heading south going to THE CROOKED HAMMOCK in LEWES DE. I had some good reports from Doc and Don. The 3rd Monday in FEB which is the 19th and meeting at the club house at 11:30. There will be a sign up sheet will be at club house P.S. they make their own brew …Next month The Station Dan. There will be a sign up sheet at the clubhouse.

Shakespeare Night

Back in October we held a Poe Night and people in the community participated and recited either poetry or read from his writing. On February 17th we will host a Shakespeare in Love night at the Club House at 6 pm. If you would like to join in, call Linda Synden, Patti Papineau or Barbara Borrell and let them know what you plan to recite or act. There are love sonnets and short scenes you might want to use. There are scenes with two women or two men who discuss love, and of course, there are love scenes for couples. Come and join in the fun as a spectator or participant.
